At long last finished one UFO, and gained a few new skills along the way!!
see the quilt reflected in mirror |
So for almost 2 years the mirror (which of course needs to hang above the matching table and bench!) had a lovely, but raw, piece of fabric covering it to block the sun's reflected rays.
Last year inspiration struck with this birthday gift.
First I resized the kit (from 12" x 12" to ~16" x 22") and then altered
the design to lose the postage stamp motif.
Then it was fused applique with careful placement of the modified design.
I stitched and stitched - my first machine applique project - helped along by a class at the Lakeland Sewing and Quilting expo to gain experience/technique/confidence.
Then 'bagged' vs traditional backing & binding. It was hung with just enough time for a photo before the setting sun came round . . .
On a sewing 'roll' I finished off my non-quilt (way too hot for a quilt here!) bed covering and pillow covers too! :-) and started on the seahorse . . . a project born out of necessity for a quilting class at the Lakeland Sewing & Quilting Show last March.
Isn't he cute? Design by mini me!!! |

When not sewing nor working, I completed my sheriff ride-along a couple of weeks ago and am off for a tour of the county jail this week, both with Pinellas Citizens' University.
So my [quirky quilting] friends, mini me hasn't been idle.
Don't you wish you were here on the beach with me?
Could be you out on that float . . . |
