Steels for the Loft Roof - With a Crane

This morning four steels went up into the roof.  It was all over in 20 minutes! And yes we are living here through the dust and noise.

Yup the planes still flew, the road remained open and the birds squawked.
See the magpie nest in the tree to the right?

And another ...

All closed up again.  Good as more rain forecast.
Sadly I missed the shot of the worker sliding down the outside rails of the ladder.

Then a Skip (dumpster) 'On the Go' came to cart stuff away, and the heavens opened just after I took this photo. The skip never left the lorry* (truck, see * below).
But still the 'bedroom balcony' (see description below) is full.

Here's what hubby calls his bedroom balcony - aka the staging area built out over the pavement (sidewalk in American) as the front garden has plants and the back isn't very big or accessible.

It is currently filled with junk - at least no one can see in (unless on the 'bedroom balcony')!

This is our second lot of scaffolding, as we restored our windows last autumn (now with insect screens).  We've been doing other more miror 'repairs' to the house from the tenants too, so a busy time.

* per Wikipedia: Truck is used in American English, and is common in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa, while lorry is the equivalent in British English, and is the usual term in countries like Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore and India.

No this is not April Fools' Day

Well it was 1st April and look what I found in my neighbour's plant pot. Just a mucky old pigeon! But look Mr Pigeon left Mrs Pigeon a big feather . . .

Well and a nice blue British sky out my back window on 7th April.  Then came the rains.

My house is in boxes and my walls full of samples. Don't worry it won't be any of these.

I said Never, but here we GO . . .

Scaffolding has gone up . . . and a front access 'new entry' has been made ...
let's hope it doesn't rain too much or too hard!

Look Ma, there's a hole in my roof!

So onward and upward with the loft conversion - a 'guest suite' and clean storage.

Some rubbish outside my window . . . well just above my bedroom window.

Chimney breasts from lounge and dining rooms go through loft and will stay as we have fireplaces below.

Back roof gone!  This is where we are 'raising the roof' as front roof must stay in this conservation area. Fortunately they put on a temporary tin roof over the top, as it is now raining.

A metal framed window box with strawberry plants has appeared in my front garden this morning; apparently someone has dumped it here thinking I am a building site and they can get rid of their unwanted items here  - gee thanks!

That's all for now.  Much banging (a little dust too) and noise from above as I write this, and a little scary to see your home coming apart at the seams, literally.  Supporting steels coming next week!
