Rogue Wave ... Goodbye 2020!

corner of hot tub lifted
Well to end 2020 we were visited by a Rogue Wave on Christmas Eve.  Yup this is the damage along with our swimming pool now holding salt water! It wasn't a tropical storm or hurricane, just a thunderstorm ...

So some pavers were torn up, the perimeter fence knocked down and bent, pool loungers tossed everywhere, and sandy water all across the ground floor and lobby.

I must admit the gate still standing with no fence into the pool area is amusing!

Of course there is always something new on the beach - this time we have had people digging to China - never seen such a deep hole - and of course despite speaking with the beach patrol, they failed to fill it in ... just hope no one breaks a leg in one of these 'de-construction feats'left behind.

If it looks like they are racing around the hole, they did and played in it like a reverse pyramid - no idea what the game was for young adult men ---- but at least it keeps us entertained during COVID 'stay at home' routine!

With a recent gift of holiday fabric and some INSPIRE, I made some Christmas bowls and a posy basket, in which I plan to keep my face masks handy at the entry for any knocks on the door.

Believe it or not I was up early-ish the other morning and got this lovely shot.

2020 wasn't all bad and I count my blessings --  Good bye to 2020!

Sequestered!

Well some of us are on a self-imposed sequestration for our own health and well-being - as you can see below some of our neighbours and state government are on a different planet!

What's a girl to do?  Help out friends, like finishing off this stocking for a special great granddaughter.

Packing away Christmas? How did stockings begin? A number of legends from Europe/Asia Minor have the common element of St Nicholas anonymously helping children in poverty. After dark he threw three bags of gold through an open window, one landed in a stocking. When the family woke up the next morning they found the bags of gold and were, of course, overjoyed.

This is a Bucilla stocking, favored by crafters and often made as a keepsake for grandchildren. Bucilla was founded in 1867 by Bernhard Ulmann, a European emigrant who lived in Woodside, New York and sold from a pushcart on the streets of east New York and later developed Mellina, a brand of yarn designed for hand knitting and needlecrafts.

Ever seen the green flash at sunset?  Look closely ... Photo by a local photographer, Robert McCoy, taken I think in early December 2020.

And just in case you are confused ...
