The Doldrums!

onewheel on beach
Yup COVID-19 has given us the Doldrums! We have a new President peacefully sworn into office - enough said. And RIP Sir Tom who did the amazing walk just before his 100 birthday.

So to cheer us, here are a few pictures ... where do you think they are?  No, not on the beach, but on the River Thames in London! Posted 3rd February on NextDoor by James Lumley-Savile these are gorgeous!

And another shot -- unfiltered -- 5 February by Goli Mirzazadeh in Barons Court, along with a postbox topper in SW London for Valentine's day.

Back on the beach, from a weather perspective, one might think we are in the Midwest with this Weather Alert - first time we have had such a severe alert and the Superbowl is playing here Sunday:

ALERT: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon (02/06) through early tomorrow (Sunday, 02/07). Large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, frequent lightning, and an isolated tornado may be possible with any severe thunderstorms that develop. Additionally, dense sea fog is also forecast to develop later this afternoon (02/06) into tomorrow (Sunday, 02/07) along marine and coastal areas, limiting visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.

I always say, just when you think you have seen it all ... Piper emergency landing on Treasure Island (1/17 circa 9:00 am) by Biltmore Hotel - all safe.

Here in Florida, the COVID vaccines are being done by on-line appointments for 65+ individuals - we now have 4 websites in our county alone to check and compete to get a vaccine;  it does the brain in and is a total crap shoot!!

To keep busy, in addition to the volunteering now all done by zoom and phone, I made a few Christmas and birthday presents - here's a sample - crochet baskets vs reed baskets was a bit of fun:

And now I am on to a few gift quilts - this one needs ironing, but you get the idea - for a 10 year old girl who likes the beach, colour blue and horses, along with a pillow  for sis made from an old quilt of my great grandmother.
And some charity baskets underway . . . completed basket by my friend Jan.

Of course I need to end with a sunset picture - this time in fog a few weeks ago -
