Glutton for Punishment - Yes 2 at Once!!

What can I say?  If I had planned for both to happen at once, well never, but here we are. Be sure to read the previous post for the main event - this is just a frustratingly slow sideline.

First we built a cupboard into a void in a bedroom - these flats have no storage space! Well, it's almost done ...

Who realised it would take over the whole flat and become uninhabitable ...
this before an UNRELATED water leak occurred in our flat dripping downward to the neighbour.

Before
As we enjoy spending time in this seaside town, we thought to make the flat brighter and more useable we would move some doors and resite the washer & dryer into a long cupboard, now divided into two and opening both sides! Pictures to come.

During - Ok, the builder is making [slow] progress.

Here's the new door into the lounge (picture taken from opposite direction),

and an internal window where the old door was.
This creates a big space for a window-high storage cupboard into the triangle space.

Standing inside lounge looking through new lounge doorway towards new kitchen door.
New door is moving from white frame to the area on the right (towards open wood door).

Here's a new fire-rated pocket door into the kitchen.
This gives us a better layout for a [future] new kitchen and better communication into the lounge.

Ensuite Our ensuite bathroom coming along disrupted for the new washer/dryer cupboard.

                                                                            Before

Can you tell we are on the beach?
I am selecting some Flotex bathroom carpeting - good on the feet and takes water too.

After - watch this space - one day we will be finished!

Progress ... But when will it END?

Are you wondering how the loft conversion is going?  Well, the structural work seems done, but there wasn't much to see since the steels went in and the burglars put holes in our ceiling last April (!)

An example of the before -- just a dirty old Edwardian loft.

Happily now, I can report we have raised the roof (literally), internal walls and a staircase, Shower tray just went in end of last week.  So, after a LOT of dust and debris  - even with zipper door dust sheets -- here's how we look now -- albeit once the stairs went in we are sharing our home with builders 6 days a week. Hubby now in loft as I write, troubleshooting; admittedly he is much more patient and better at this than I am.

a real hazy dust storm of at one point!

Now the cupboards ... in front of the chimmneys - could there be a secret place in there?

main/guest bedroom

and the shower tray at last,

along with a bit of our Wisteria trying to take over the scaffolding

We even have an amazing skylight over the stairs (yes that is the temporary tin roof at the top of the scaffolding you can see through the skylight in this picture).

My loft light has been repaired too and will now hang in the loft stairwell.

Tomorrow, I have been promised the back windows! Then the scaffolding can come down. Yipee!
I cannot wait to get rid of the 'balcony'/trash pile in front of my bedroom windows.

Window (8 August) and Scaffolding (12 August) Update

Well the delayed windows (one having been sent back to factory before arrival), arrived Tuesday. Unfortunately the back window at the top does not close so the factory has to [again] remake the top portion of the window.  Now promised?/estimated for 5 September, putting back completion of the loft - sigh ... there really are no words.
