Warning Falling ... Pre and ?? Post

This is how it feels . . . or really falling rocks - read on -- And it smells really dusty too!                                                                         Hubby decided to reinstate the 2 walls of cornice in our dining room that disappeared during our initial renovation years ago - another round of more dust. We had dust for the rennovation of our windows last September - very fine dust that was in every room - gardeners tramping through the house all last autumn for fixing garden fence, leveling garden, etc, then dust from some electric/cabling work which required drilling into concrete walls in December - just in time for Christmas - then again in March to plaster up the December work and make other repairs and now again -- I know some people (partners of builders for example) seem to live in perpetual building sites - how do they do it?

End April we came home to find burglars had climbed our scaffolding into the loft space, he (yes he we have it on CCTV) left  3 holes in the ceiling! Fortunately they didn't get into our living space below, just took a few of our builder's tools.  Then the builder feel through the ceiling covering hubby with plaster (yes lathe and paster original ceiling - wow the dust!), but fortunately hubby & builder unhurt and we had already covered the one piece of furniture left in the room.  Now 4 holes in our ceilings!
Then the builder broke 3 [more] panes of glass in the loft light as mentioned below.

Second hole from builder - you can see the burglar hole covered and another 'almost' hole of flaking paint.  Next I discovered some chalk markings on our front gate post - which might be burglar code!?!

Onto the major works:  A classic drafty, dirty Edwardian loft with pull down ladder and skylight/access hatch which shines through original lovely stained glass (but tenant damaged and now builder further damaged  - deep sigh); the loft now being transformed into guest suite and clean storage.

This is the loft hatch when open ... it will be replaced by a new staircase, but I have a plan for it ... and a few saved original timbers from the loft (thanks to a question from Sis, I saved them! Hee Hee).

We have to cover everything, especially as a fine black dust came down the chimneys - ugh!

So everynight we take a plastic dust sheet off the bed, and hoover (vacumn) a bit before drifting off to sleep to the sounds of things pinging off the scaffolding; rain is a particularly interesting noise, but the windy is a little scary.  And you guessed it, every morning we cover everything up again.

At least no point in doing Spring cleaning . . . (does anyone do that any more?)
