Sequestered!

Well some of us are on a self-imposed sequestration for our own health and well-being - as you can see below some of our neighbours and state government are on a different planet!

What's a girl to do?  Help out friends, like finishing off this stocking for a special great granddaughter.

Packing away Christmas? How did stockings begin? A number of legends from Europe/Asia Minor have the common element of St Nicholas anonymously helping children in poverty. After dark he threw three bags of gold through an open window, one landed in a stocking. When the family woke up the next morning they found the bags of gold and were, of course, overjoyed.

This is a Bucilla stocking, favored by crafters and often made as a keepsake for grandchildren. Bucilla was founded in 1867 by Bernhard Ulmann, a European emigrant who lived in Woodside, New York and sold from a pushcart on the streets of east New York and later developed Mellina, a brand of yarn designed for hand knitting and needlecrafts.

Ever seen the green flash at sunset?  Look closely ... Photo by a local photographer, Robert McCoy, taken I think in early December 2020.

And just in case you are confused ...
