Yarn Bombing

Ever been yarn bombing*?  Well even with inclement weather forecast, it was time to decorate the trees outside the Folk Week tent to brighten up the area.

So despite the weather beginning to 'spit' we were off . . . under the direction and watchful eye of

Lynn Hunt (Knitting at the Albion) and the crafty gang. We had all sort of flora and fauna to tie around and between the trees. Said trees protected us from the first spots of rain too!

* yarn bombing = a kind of knitting/crocheting graffiti, using coloured yarn rather than chalk or paint to create street art, brighten up surroundings and bring smiles and chuckles to passers-by.

A 'pool' of jellyfish and sea life

No seaside is complete without the sea gulls!

Plus a few "buzzy" and furry creatures.

They have a night security guard too!

and still there was more to hang . . . finished just before the rain started properly!

Nearby 100 Purl Queens in 1,000 hours from February to August, knitted the Road of Remembrance poppy display, thought to be the largest yarn bomb on a building.
