At Sea

Happy Easter; glad to see the sheriff patroling our beaches and waters again!  When I am not feeling like a caged tiger during COVID-19 stay at home order, I feel at sea (ha ha). Saturday 4th April saw one of the cruise ships anchored off Tampa Bay, draw closer.

Over the past few weeks 6-7 cruise ships have been trading places going into and out of Port Tampa - for supplies or to change crew? - and then return to anchor in the Fairway Anchorage at the ten-fathom line (off the Tampa Bay shipping channel) where they are clearly visible at night from our coast..

2 April it was reported by locals that one of the cruise tenders/lifeboats docked in Pass-A-Grill (Shell Key dock) and offloaded individuals into ambulances.

We believe the tender came from Celebrity Infinity (crew 999, with 2170 passenger capacity). On Sunday the 5th the Sea Sub1 boat made a round trip from Johns Pas out to the Celebrity Infinity.

With non-stop barking we had to look out our windows to smile when seeing this.

and this and this is it social distancing at sea?

we had a visitor until he was chased away by blackbirds, and hearty swimmer out daily

Here cownoserays are almost beaching themselves in a mating frenzy - I wouldn't stand there . . .

It's almost turtle season - we did our annual workshop by 3 hour video last night! Here's the tracks we look for in the sand ...

Another face mask - best instructions and best
homemade mask I found is at Fabric Patch. Check out the lining!

My second choice is this one, and this one. This one contradicts some others, but she is a doctor and quilter! Here's a slightly different style.

The debate on the use of homemade face masks for the public and the best material rages on. Now here's a novel idea if the elastic of some masks hurts your ears - get out those crochet hooks! Or try these  or this one- lol.

May we who are merely inconvenienced
remember those whose lives are at stake

May we who have no risk factors
remember those most vulnerable

May we who have the luxury of working from home
remember those who must choose between
preserving their health or making their rent

May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close
remember those who have no options

May we who have to cancel our trips
remember those that have no safe place to go

May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market
remember those who have no margin at all

Try this from M&S
May we who settle in
for our quarantine at home
Remember those who have no home

As fear grips our country
Let us choose love

During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other
Let us yet find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbours
