Everyday Wonders

Local Kent fish shop has glazed Eel on the menu - reminding me of stories of my great grandfather skinning eels in the garage on a special board.

In Florida it is a fish they tout - Grouper.

Florida describes its beaches as 'sugar sand' (i.e. white) whilst Kent has 'golden' (i.e. brownish and corser) sands.  Great marketing!

And now for one of those wondering moments - a question - how is it that smartphones are getting bigger and bigger - here's the ones I have purchased over the past 11 years -- each time trying to buy the smallest on the market - and as you can see each time they are bigger (heavier) and don't last as long ---- hummmm

Then we have the wonders of sink taps - the ones on the left have individual hot and cold handles and although called a 'mixer' the water comes out of the central tap in two streams hot on the left and cold on the right so one either scalds or freezes the fingers!  Happily now replaced with a single lever proper mixer tap that not only gives mixed warm water, but is Covid friendly as can turn it on and off with a flick of the arm - that is no hand touch! What a happy person I am now!!

And whilst here the plumber also fixed the washing machine connection so it is properly installed and not blocking the neighbouring drawer - what relief to have some more storage space!😁
